[Review] Picross e9 (3DS)

It’s more Picross!

Honestly, I haven’t much to say about this. At this point in the series it’s very very similar to e8. A decent set of puzzles, mirrored in Mega Picross mode, a full suite of options and hints, and 3 “Micross” collages of famous paintings. I was challenged by several of them, and the nonograms make up convincing pictures a lot of the time; I can’t always say that about these games.

Maybe the most noteworthy thing about this is that they, cruelly, never bothered to localise it and release it outside Japan. Pretty irritating. Having access to a Japanese 3DS it was simple enough to purchase and play, but I didn’t get the bonus puzzles (another customary feature if you own e1, 2, and/or 3), and couldn’t easily read the puzzle titles, leaving some of the depictions unclear to me.

The 3DS remains my favourite way to play Picross puzzles. It’s too bad the powers that be didn’t see fit to allow me access to this, but I wrangled it anyway, and I’m glad I did! Because it’s nice to chill out with some logic brainteasers now and again.
